As an initiative of the Metropolitan Evansville Chamber of Commerce and as a result of the recommendations from the Hudson Study regarding workforce, a new non profit organization formed in the Evansville area. The Young Evansville Professionals (YEP) began its charter on April 19, 2001.

The purpose of this group is to offer young professionals ages 21-40 years old in the Evansville area an opportunity to network with peers on a professional and social level.

The primary reasons for organizing the group were the following:

  • Recruitment/Retention: As a direct result of the Hudson Study, a key component to improving workforce is to retain the current young workers and keep them employed and content to stay in the Evansville region. This targeted market of young professionals may also serve as a focus group for many companies to survey and utilize in studies.

  • Networking: This group offers an outlet for young people to meet, exchange ideas and also promote and assist with events associated with the Chamber and the other organizations in our community.

  • Community Involvement: Our members are encouraged to volunteer as manpower, tutoring or consultants for many other non profit organizations.

YEP will hold a monthly membership meeting on the 3rd Thursday of each month with networking starting at 5:30 p.m. and the business meeting starting at 6:00 p.m. Check website for meeting dates and locations. After the scheduled meetings, all members are encouraged to go out for dinner and beverages to network and enjoy the entertainment in the Evansville area.
